Study Groups - a supposed formula for success

I have heard much about CAE study groups; the pass rate stats seem to significantly be in the favor of those who utilized study groups. I selected the Association Forum of Chicagoland's suburban study group and attended my first session a few weeks ago; although I was not well-prepared for it, I found it helpful. Unfortunately due to work-related travel I am missing the second and third sessions; I hope that my travel schedule and present workload don't end up being a huge disadvantage.

DC is the place to be to study for the CAE

I participated in the CAE Immersion Preparation Course at the ASAE headquarters in Washington DC back in September. If you have it in your budget to attend, I recommend it. I was surprised by how few Chicagoland folks made the trip, as Chicago is the second largest mecca for associations after DC; perhaps a sign of the poor economy and slashed travel budgets. The course was well worth the trip - I found the domain content reviews to be extremely valuable, and the practice test experience to be terrifying.

In pursuit of the CAE

After nine years in the association industry, I longed to add those 3 letters after my name - "CAE". So I have decided to finally go for it - I applied for and was accepted to sit for the Certified Association Executive (CAE) exam. In this blog I will share my journey of preparation for this exam - lessons learned from my studying strategy and tips that I pick up along the way.
